I was at the Entire Foods grocery store, and after asking the butcher for the 4th time where the artichokes were, altercations occured, and security had to escort me out. I stubbed my toe on the automatic doors on the way out. That happened every time I tried to purchase an artichoke. Not the security guard part, just the toe stubbing. Somewhere, somehow, in any grocery mark, I go and stub my toe. It's never the same toe, either. Sometimes big. Sometimes pinky. Sometimes that middle-left toe gets stubbed too. My feet hurt all the time. My doctor says it's because I have scoliosis but I say you know what. It's because I'm constantly stubbing my toes at grocery stores. I still want to make artichoke dip.. Top to bottom the design in this game is practically as flawless as Martha's grin! It's difficult to find a game that'll keep you hooked throughout the whole ride like this one.. When I saw the art style for Smile for Me, my original guess was that it was designed for a certain type of Tumblr crowd--you know, aimed at a late-teens or early-twenties audience, using a quirky\/goofy aesthetic but with story themes otherwise focused heavily on anxiety or leftist politics. And I like that kind of thing, so I got it without knowing much about it other than the art style and the store description. So I think it's worth pointing out that this initial guess of mine was wrong. It's not aiming for the Tumblr crowd, it's aiming to be like the kinds of children's cartoons that happen to inspire that Tumblr crowd, and I think it absolutely succeeds at that. This is purely an adventure game, in the vein of "collect every item you run across and figure out the correct characters to give them to so that those characters will stop blocking your path." None of the puzzles were particularly hard for me to solve, especially with the game's generous built-in hint system, but since the challenge in these types of games basically comes from guessing what particular moon logic the developer happens to want you to follow in using any given item, personally I think leaning on the easy side is a good thing. It took me only three hours to 100% it, if that matters to you, but there was basically no repeated content in that three hours (save getting stuck on some puzzles a few seconds longer than the others). If you're already familiar with the type of game I'm talking about, then you know the strength of the game is going to come from the world and characters and how fun they are to interact with. "Cartoon mischief" is the name of the game here, with nearly two dozen characters who all do and say ridiculous things, and I'll say again that I think this game world matches the quality of the better shows found on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. I honestly don't think it's unfair to say it has the same level of effort put into it as something like Spongebob. Or maybe it would be more fair to compare it to other adventure games based on cartoon aesthetics, like Sam & Max.That should be enough for an adult to determine if they'd like it or not, but it does leave the question "So is it safe for my kid to play it?" Due to my original guess about the themes, it wasn't something I was making judgments on while playing it, so I can only make statements in hindsight. There's a fair bit of Looney-Tunes-style violence. If there was any swearing, I don't remember it. One character smokes. A few different characters are clearly drunk at some point, and one of them flirts with you in the midst of it. The ending is dark, but not darker than what you would see in one of the more intense Disney movies. There's one puzzle involving a butt. So there's a few small things, but I'd say if your kid isn't TOO sensitive or impressionable, they should be fine with this game overall.TL;DR: If you're not a fan of cartoons, then yeah, you might as well skip this--there's nothing particularly deep or groundbreaking going on here. But if you DO like cartoons, this is a high-quality one. If you think the price of the game is something you'd be willing to pay in order to watch three hours' worth of cartoons, then I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't enjoy this.. 10\/10 stars. beautiful art, beautiful music, fun puzzles. i've been waiting for this game to come out for months and it didn't disappoint. that y'owl was hard to catch though!thank you yugo and gabe and everybody who helped make this!. Point and click Psychonauts5 \/ 5 would smile again. A really good game with really good characters.A really good story with really good music.Y'all shall play it!It's amazing.And... Don't forget to smile. ; - ). Smile For Me is a charming puzzle-adventure game with a fun art-style, creative puzzles, and an enjoyable cast of weird characters. Without spoiling too much, you wander around the Habitat trying to put a smile on everyone's face by solving their problems in different ways. You interact with others using the items you've gathered and the nodding mechanic. It's short (maybe 5 or 6 hours for a first play-through?), but worth the price.. Smile For Me drew me in with its art style and great character designs, but I was happily enthralled with the character's personalities, the interactions, and the gameplay itself.I love puzzle games but most of the time fetch-style quests end up being ridiculous guesses on how to combine things or maybe using a toothpick with a duck to get the squeaker out for who knows what. I didn't get that in this game, even when I got stuck I never felt like it was the game's fault for being abstract. A lot of the puzzles' solutions felt very clever and fun, there was only one instance where I felt it was absurd but I even changed my mind on that when it came back later in a puzzle that definitely would've clued me in.The story was great, while not the deepest in the world (or the longest) the quick hit of it really had me invested quickly. I wanted to know more the whole time I was playing and even when I finished. The only things to keep in mind are the yes\/no head movement sensitivity (don't move too fast since sometimes no can become yes, but it's very rare and might be a tracking issue on the hardware's end) and that the game is a more interactive fetch-combine-quest style puzzle game. If that's not your type of game then you might not have a good time, but it's worth it for the design and story if you don't mind itI absolutely recommend this game to anyone who likes puzzle games and interesting character\/game\/story design
