It's great as an experiment or a demo but I'd steer clear if you were expecting anything deep or innovative. It's not a bad game. Some bad design decisions and uninspired story but entirely playable and finishable in ~2 hours. I'd recommend Axiom Verge. It's a Metroidvania with TONS of more depth, replayability, challenge and fun. If you've all but exhausted all the games that have this style of gameplay (are you for real?!) I'd say you can buy this on the super cheap but... you're honestly better off watching a playthrough.Easily skippable, but not a bad game.. A boring, bland, empty game. Don't bother; there are about a million other platformers/metroidvanias that are better than this.. If you like metroidvania, you'll like this. Animation is rudementary. There is virtually no music. Sound effects are weak. There's little enemy variety. The game lacks the charm and complexity of games like Valdis (which is on Steam) or Symphony of the Night (which unfortunately is not on Steam). But, with all this said, it's not a bad metroidvania. It does have an interesting premis (even calling it a story is a stretch) and a large world for you to explore and gain new items and abilities. It's not a bad game, really. Just one that could have really been better. But for the price, I would recommend it.. I bought this game based on the trailer because it looked spooky and interesting. The game fails to deliver either of these things. Typical platformer but with no music, unexplained enemies and fails to be fun when it introduces annoying jumping sections and requires the player to start tediously backtracking to advance further. I don't recommend it. There's no music. There's maybe twelve different sound effects, maybe nine different animations. Puzzles boil down to "go here, get this macguffin, put it there" or "kill this enemy in this room so it drops a key," and I don't mean some neat space gizmo or alien pancreas that functions as a key- I mean an actual frigging key that goes in an actual frigging keyhole. Any kind of ability or suit upgrades exist solely as progress gate checks to make sure you've grabbed this or that macguffin or wandered down this or that hallway. You've two areas- empty temple and empty caves colored differently, and the enemies are stupid fireball throwing zombie things colored differently and flying zombie things colored differently.Did I mention there's no music? Would Castlevania, Metroid, Cave Story, or the like, be the same without music? Inescapable plays like a road trip, only you're not moving and you can't turn on the radio.Honestly, I was going to shoulder through and finish it to spite it all, but after drowning from spending too long underwater with my FULLY REPAIRED OXYGEN RECYCLER, I think I have to quit.For the love of all that is, don't buy this. Go play a Super Metroid ROM hack if you need something to do. Any of them. Even the crappy ones are like to be better, since with those, you can at least put something nice in your ears.. The reviews quoted in the game's marketing dialogue are hilariously overstated. This game is simplistic, and at first plays that to good effect. The problem is, it never goes anywhere with it. It is exactly the same from start to finish. There are no interesting character upgrades, there are a total of two enemy types (who get a few color changes), and there are no interesting puzzles...Worst of all the ending, while billed as "thought provoking" is a single screen of text that makes a weak attempt at impacting the player. It was barely relevant to the events of the game, and it was so poorly fitted to the context it came wrapped in that I actually questioned whether the developer intended to end the game at that point.Unfortunately, he apparently did. This game is drivel... keep your money.. Crappy flash game that's not worth paying money for.
